St Matthew’s Church, Darley Abbey
St Matthew’s Church (Church of England) is set at the heart of the historic village of Darley Abbey which is now a suburb on the north side of the City of Derby. Our postcode is DE22 1EY. The church stands on the hill looking down towards the River Derwent, the Mill and the old centre of the village. The church is usually open for visitors. If you need flat access, please phone the Vicar on 01332 551404 and we will organise it for you. (Flat access is available for all services, but when the church is open and unstaffed during the week, we need to make arrangements for wheelchair access). Parking is on Darley Abbey Drive, the road up towards Walter Evans School - in other words, at the tower end of the church. Please do not park on Church Lane.
We are linked with St Edmund’s Church, Allestree, just across the A38. Our churches are more than just beautiful buildings – they are living communities. Regular worship, on Sunday and during the week, brings together a diverse community – we aim for worship done well, with good music and thoughtful preaching. There are opportunities to study, opportunities for friendship – coffee mornings and social events. We welcome baptisms, weddings and funerals, seeking to serve our community, and beyond. We try and do all this in the name of Jesus, to welcome all in God’s name. To find out more about Jesus and the Christian faith please click here.
